Twente publishes a deadline grid rather than dated rounds, and the year is the part it leaves out. The University's master's deadline tool sets the date by nationality and intake, and the same three-by-two table serves every programme: for the September intake, applications close 'before 1 May' for non-EEA (visa) nationals, 'before 1 July' for EEA nationals and 'before 1 August' for Dutch nationals; for the February intake, 'before 1 October', 'before 1 December' and 'before 1 January' respectively.³ Applications open 1 October for a September start and 1 March for a February start. SCOPE CHECKED: the tool names the three programmes with 'deviating deadlines' — Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, GIMA, and one Psychology specialisation — and Business Administration is not among them, so the university-wide grid is this programme's grid.³ The dates on this page apply that published pattern to the two starts the programme page announces, 1 February 2027 and 1 September 2027,¹ and are marked indicative for one reason only: Twente attaches no year to the grid itself. Two hard rules ride on them. When are the Twente application deadlines, and can I start in February?
Yes, there is a February start, and it is one of the reasons to look at this programme — the programme page announces both 1 February 2027 and 1 September 2027. The deadline is set by your nationality, on a university-wide grid that Business Administration follows (the tool names the three programmes with deviating deadlines, and this is not one of them). For a September start, applications close before 1 May for non-EEA visa nationals, before 1 July for EEA nationals and before 1 August for Dutch nationals. For a February start, before 1 October, 1 December and 1 January respectively. Applications open on 1 October and 1 March. Twente attaches no calendar year to that grid, so the dates on this page apply the pattern to the two announced starts and are marked indicative. Note the hard rule: an incomplete file is not reviewed, and an English certificate obtained after the deadline does not count.
Will my English-taught degree waive the Twente English test?
Only if it comes from a country on Twente's list, and the list is unusual in who it includes and excludes. The core group is Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the USA, where you need a three-year degree and to have studied there physically for at least three years, with Canadian degrees needing at least 50% English instruction. A second group covers a mix of European and African countries — including Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Gambia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore and Suriname — where the language of instruction must be stated on the degree certificate, final transcript or diploma supplement, and 'a statement or a proficiency letter from your university is not sufficient'. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kenya and South Africa are on none of those lists. And Twente is blunt about the edges: individual waiver requests outside the stated exceptions 'cannot be considered, as the University of Twente does not offer English waivers'. Otherwise it is IELTS Academic 6.5 with 6.0 per section, TOEFL iBT 90 with 21 per section, Cambridge C1 Advanced 176, PTE Academic 63 or LANGUAGECERT Academic 70 — and the certificate must be in hand before the deadline.
What scholarships does Twente offer, and can they be combined?
Two, both for non-EU/EEA students who pay the institutional fee — an EU/EEA student paying the statutory fee is explicitly excluded from each. The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) is worth EUR 3,000 to EUR 22,000 for one year and is aimed at students in the top 5 to 10 per cent of their graduating class. The NL Scholarship, Twente's administration of the national Holland Scholarship, is a flat EUR 5,000 for the first year and requires that you have not previously taken a full degree in the Netherlands. Both closed rounds open on 15 October 2026 and close at 16:00 CET on 1 April 2027, with results in the first week of May. On combining them, Twente's own pages leave a question open rather than answer it: the UTS page states 'you can only be awarded with one UT scholarship', and the same page states that 'an additional scholarship can be awarded to UTS recipients' — the Kipaji Scholarship, which you can only reach by applying for the UTS first. The NL Scholarship page states no combination rule at all. We record that as published, not resolved; ask the scholarship office before planning on two awards.
Should a February starter expect the same funding as a September starter?
No, and this is the catch worth seeing before you choose the intake. Twente advertises both a February and a September start for this programme, but the only round either of its two scholarships publishes is 'for programmes starting September 2027' — the UTS, the NL Scholarship and the UTS-dependent Kipaji award all say so in the same words. A February 2027 start therefore has no published Twente scholarship round attached to it. For a non-EU/EEA applicant that is the difference between a EUR 18,720 bill and a EUR 18,720 bill minus up to EUR 22,000 of possible award, so it should be weighed against the six months a February start saves. Twente also warns that the February option can be specialisation-dependent — 'for some (pre-)master's, and also for specialisations within the master's, you can start in February' — so confirm both the intake and the funding round for your chosen specialisation before you apply.
