This is the unusual part, and it runs against the grain of both Sweden and this site's no-GMAT list. Stockholm University's own programme page states that **"the ranking and selection of master students is based on GMAT and/or GRE"** — not that a score is welcome, or that it puts you in a higher priority group, but that it *is* the selection mechanism. The university's syllabus record goes on to give the mechanics: upload your score report to your University Admissions account or post a copy to University Admissions in Östersund, **and** make sure your test centre sends the result to the correct GMAT/GRE code. Two things it does **not** publish: a **minimum score**, and any **alternative ladder** for an applicant who submits no test at all — which is where it differs from [Uppsala](/programs/uppsala-university) and [Gothenburg](/programs/university-of-gothenburg), both of which rank by GMAT *first* but publish a second and third step for applicants without one. On the published wording there is no stated basis on which an untested application could be ranked here, so we record the test as required and suggest you confirm with Stockholm Business School before applying without one. The academic gate is a **bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS within Social Sciences or Humanities** plus **English 6** (about IELTS Academic 6.5, no section below 5.5). No, and it is an easy and expensive confusion. The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE, Handelshögskolan i Stockholm) is a private business school that runs its own admissions partly outside the national portal, charges SEK 360,000 per master's programme to fee-paying students and requires a GMAT, GMAT Focus or GRE score alongside essays, references and a half-day assessment centre. Stockholm Business School is the business school of Stockholm University, a large public university, and this programme is admitted through universityadmissions.se on the national calendar with no tuition for EU/EEA/Swiss citizens.
