Will my English-taught degree waive the St Andrews English test?
Not automatically, and St Andrews is stricter here than most UK universities. Degrees from the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the other UKVI majority-English-speaking countries are accepted directly, as are qualifications from nationally accredited English-medium institutions in Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa. But for degrees from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and around thirty other listed countries, St Andrews requires a verified ECCTIS Qualification Language Service report confirming the qualification is equivalent to CEFR Level C1 — and states that 'statements indicating that a degree programme meets the requirements of CEFR Level B1 or B2 are not acceptable'. The ECCTIS route also only works once you have finished the degree, not while you are still studying, so it is worth starting early.
