Overview

UPF Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM) is the management school of Universitat Pompeu Fabra, one of Spain’s leading public universities. Its Master of Science in Management is a pre-experience programme aimed at recent graduates and junior professionals: the cohort averages around 24 years old and is roughly 87% international, with students arriving from business, economics, engineering, mathematics, physics and related fields.¹ It is distinct from Barcelona’s well-known private schools (ESADE, IESE) and from the separate Barcelona School of Economics.

Curriculum & Structure

The programme opens with five core courses — Applied Statistics, Managerial Accounting, Corporate Finance, Marketing and Organizational Behaviour — and then opens out into a wide choice of 30+ electives grouped into specialisations such as Business Analytics, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Operations & Supply Chain Management.² Students complete an MSc Final Project with a faculty mentor and can take optional curricular internships. Application & Deadlines

The programme is aimed at recent graduates and junior professionals, with admission by application and profile review rather than a fixed test cut-off — UPF-BSM does not list a GMAT requirement.¹

Until 13 September 2026 this page stated that non-native English speakers must document English proficiency. UPF-BSM does not publish that, and we could not source it. Re-read that day, the programme page’s “Admission and enrolment” section carries accreditation and ranking copy and no language-level requirement at all — no TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo threshold, no CEFR level, and no category of applicant named.¹ ³ That absence is unusually easy to judge here, because the school says where the rule would live: its own new-students page states that “The specific requirements of the language level that we demand for each program are described in the ‘Admission and Enrolment’ section of the page of each course”.³ So the honest reading is that for this programme UPF-BSM publishes no English threshold where it says it publishes one — ask admissions rather than assuming either a test or a waiver.

Classes start in late September, and the page has rolled to the next cycle: read on 13 September 2026 it gives “Classes start: 20 September, 2027”, where this profile previously quoted 21 September 2026.¹ Places are limited and admission is rolling, so international candidates who need a visa should apply early.
