Nova School of Business and Economics MiM Class Profile

Nova SBE offers two distinct degrees that are easy to confuse. The International Master's in Management (IMM) is the English-taught, internationally oriented programme covered on this page — it is the degree that appears in the Financial Times MiM ranking. Nova also runs a separate Portuguese-language Master in Management aimed at the local market, with a different cohort, calendar, and career outcomes. Applicants from outside Portugal almost always want the IMM.

Nova's climb has been driven by strong reported salaries (US $123k weighted three-year), high employment rates (94% at three months), and gains on the FT's international experience and value-for-money sub-indices. The school's investment in the oceanfront Carcavelos campus (opened 2018), its CEMS membership, and the international composition of the IMM cohort (93% international, 35 nationalities) have compounded into a meaningful methodology-driven uplift.

Consulting (around a third of the cohort) and finance are the largest sectors, followed by technology, consumer goods, and marketing. Top recruiters include PwC, Deloitte, BCG, Microsoft, Accenture, Amazon, EY, KPMG, McKinsey, L'Oréal, Google, and Unilever. Around 50% of graduates take their first role abroad, and roughly 84% pursue careers with international scope.

The IMM is deliberately small — recent intakes have been around 69 students from 35 nationalities. The class is roughly 93% international and 50% female, which makes it one of the most evenly distributed cohorts in this directory.
